THE BENICIA Oldtimers will honor NorCal Baseball Hall of Fame alumni Terry Cunningham during a doubleheader on Sunday.

The Benicia Oldtimers routed visiting Vallejo last Friday night, 17-6, in a rematch of last year’s NorCal championship game.

Brian Rowles and Benicia newcomer Dan Nugent each had doubles as the Oldtimers took an 8-2 lead after three innings. Benicia exploded for seven more runs in the fourth off doubles from Lou Costa and Eric Wheat and singles from Rich Reza, Ernest Holquin and Brandon Fade.

Ricky Silva pitched four innings for Benicia and allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Jason Tatro threw three innings and allowed three runs on three hits while striking out four.

Benicia will entertain both Vallejo and Watsonville this Sunday at Fitzgerald Field in a split doubleheader on Terry Cunningham Day. Cunningham, a switch-hitting first baseman, was an integral part of the Oldtimers for more than 30 years and was inducted into the Nor Cal Baseball Hall of Fame with the inaugural class of 2005. He passed away in Cookeville, Tenn., on Sept. 26, 2014.
