The Benicia Bicycle Club has announced a “bridge to bridge” ride with Congressman Mike Thompson for Sunday, July 31.
Riders will meet at the parking lot at First and B Streets at 8:30 a.m. The congressman and other area VIPs will join club riders as they cycle across the Carquinez Bridge, continuing on to the Benicia Bridge by way of Cummings Skyway. The ride will continue from that point along the George Miller Regional Trail, alongside the Carquinez Strait.
This is a moderate pace ride, with frequent stops planned along the way. Helmets are required. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The ride will cover a distance of 27 miles.
For more information contact ride leader Nancy Lund at nslund@earthlink.net or district representative Mel Orpilla at mel.orpilla@mail.house.gov.
