Ahoy ye sea dogs and lubbers! Tickets are now available for the eighth annual Northern California Pirate Festival in Vallejo.
Described as equal parts Mardi Gras, state fair, living history and pirate fan gathering the event once again will be at Vallejo Waterfront Park June 14-15, Father’s Day weekend.
The park’s grounds will be covered with pirate encampments, nautical wares, swimmng mermaids, four stages of entertainment and a dedicated children’s area that includes a 30-foot slide along a gigantic kraken.
Young swabbies also can brush up on their seafaring skills through the Children’s School of Piracy and participate in an unconventional retelling of the book, “Treasure Island.”
Young and old sea rogues can be entertained by Captain Jack Spare Ribs, the Sea Dogs musical group, the stage group Court of the Pirate Lords, maritime singers Skip Henderson and the Starboard Watch, Dogwatch, Mister Mac and multiple other performers.
More seasoned privateers and buccaneers may want to attend the Buccaneer Bash, visit with the ladies of the House of the Rising Sun, see the Dead Pirate Macabre and the Pirates of Emerson, and listen to the Dread Crew of Oddwood and Pirates Charles.
Cannon fire will sound throughout both days, with the return of both the Privateers of the Dauntless, a full-scale, land-based replica ship, and the Brotherhood of Oceanic Mercenaries, or BOOM.
Admission at the gate will be $10 per person per day, with those 11 and younger admitted without charge. However, those ordering tickets Friday who using the code seadogs2014 will get them for half price.
