Letter: Vallejo’s wastewater rates

March 28, 2018 by Editor 1 Comment

Vallejo’s wastewater rates

As a followup to my recent two-part article on water and wastewater rates, I learned today that Vallejo intends to start a wastewater rate increase this year of almost 50 percent over five years–about 10 percent per year for five years–, driving its rates up to $126 for two months.  This is close to the current rate in Benicia.  Other nearby wastewater agencies also have 7 to 10 percent rate increases scheduled this year.  As I mentioned in the article, Vallejo and the others put the wastewater fees on the property tax bill, so it is not charged on a monthly or bimonthly basis, but annually with the property tax.

I was aware of that. I live in Benicia and do care about Benicia. Other cities can have their own problems. I do like the fact you are the residents go to person. You do a very good job of that. Please do not stop. Thank you.
