If you plan to mail your ballot for Tuesday’s election, Thursday’s the day to send it, John Gardner, assistant registrar of voters, said.
“If they turn in their ballots early, they can speed up the reporting of election results on election night,” Gardner said. In addition, getting the ballots to the post office Thursday will ensure their on-time delivery, he said.
“We know that voters appreciate the ability to weigh and cast their ballots from the comfort of their own homes at times convenient for them,” Gardner said.
But to count, those ballots must be received by Gardner’s office Tuesday. “Vote-by-mail ballots received on Tuesday, will be counted after the election due to the ballot verification process.”
Voters who prefer to use mail-in ballots rather than voting at the polls on election day have other options, too, Gardner said. They can drop off their ballots in person by 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Registrar of Voter’s Office, Suite 2600, 675 Texas St., Fairfield.
Benicia voters can drop their ballots prior to election day anytime during business hours at City Clerk Lisa Wolfe’s office at City Hall, 250 East L St., or at any city clerk office in Solano County.
“As in past, the Registrar of Voters will offer curbside drop off of vote-by-mail ballots,” Gardner said. That begins Friday and his office will extend its business hours to 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Registrar also encourages voters going to the polls to complete their ballot in advance. Those with questions about Tuesday’s election may call the Registrar’s Office, 707-784-6675 or visit www.solanocounty.com/elections.
