Armed robbery at Fast and Easy Mart

August 17, 2012 by Editor 2 Comments

Staff Report

Fast and Easy Mart, 1500 East Fifth Street, was held up Thursday night by armed robbers, police said.

The lone clerk described the four assailants as African-American men in the 20s or 30s, wearing dark-colored bandanas over their mouths, police said.

At about 10:58 p.m., one of the robbers pointed a small handgun at the clerk and demanded money, receiving an unknown amount, police said; the suspects also stole the clerk’s personal laptop and wallet.

The robbers also stole alcoholic beverages, police said.

“During the incident the clerk was hit in the back of the head by one of the suspects with a closed fist,” Benicia police Lt. Frank Hartig said in a news release.

“The clerk stated he was not injured and refused medical treatment.”

The handgun used in the incident was described as small, black and of unknown make or caliber, police said.

Two of the suspects were described as wearing gray hoodies, and one was wearing a black hoodie while the other was wearing a dark navy blue jacket, police said.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown make and model silver four-door vehicle, police said.
