STA opens info depot Monday

October 31, 2014 by Donna Beth Weilenman Leave a Comment

Solano Transportation Authority is opening a transportation information depot Monday at the Suisun-Fairfield train station, Jayne Bauer, marketing and legislative program manager, said.

That’s the same day the Clipper Card program expands into Solano County transit systems, she said.

The authority will celebrate the addition with a grand opening ceremony that begins at 6:30 a.m. Monday and last until 2 p.m. Among the activities will be drawings for free transit passes on the Capitol Corridor, SolTrans, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST) and other systems, Bauer said.

“We’re happy to expand our reach in the dissemination of public transportation information, services and options for local commuters,” said Osby Davis, the Vallejo mayor who is the STA Board chairperson.

“The grand opening of the Transportation Info Depot marks the launch of a new era in public transit services for commuters in and around Solano and Napa Counties,” he said.

The Transportation Info Depot, 177 Main St., Suisun City, will help the traveling public from 6:30 a.m. through 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Those stopping by can get transit information, transit trip planning. Fastrak toll tag applications, Clipper Cards and reloads, information about mobility options for older riders and those with disabilities, applications for regional transit connection discount identification cards, personalized car and van pool match lists, BikeLink locker cards and information about the Emergency Ride Home Program and commute incentives.

Bauer said the Solano and Napa counties Clipper Card rollout also takes place Monday.

“The Metropolitan Transportation Commission has expanded Clipper to include Napa VINE in Napa County; SolTrans, Fairfield and Suisun Transit and Vacaville City Coach bus systems in Solano County; and San Francisco Bay Ferry’s Vallejo-to-San Francisco route,” Bauer said.

Clipper cards also will be accepted for payment on the new Oakland Airport Connector, expected to open later this year, she said.

“Clipper is the all-in-one transit card that keeps track of any passes, discount tickets, ride books and cash value that you load onto it, while applying all applicable fares, discounts and transfer rules,” she said. “This lets you customize your card for your own transit needs.”

The Transportation Info Depot also will support the Solano Napa Commuter Information program, Bauer said
