Vallejo police seek public help solving murder case

September 23, 2014 by Donna Beth Weilenman

Vallejo Police Department is asking for the public’s help in solving a murder that took place Sunday afternoon in the Howard Johnson’s hotel on Admiral Callaghan Lane, Detective Sgt. Joe Iacono said.

Officers were called to the hotel after someone reported people had been shot.

The officers found a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. They attempted to save his life, but the man died of his injuries, Iacono said.

Police released no other information about the man, but said this is the city’s 13th murder this year.

A second man, identified only as a 72-year-old from Vallejo, also was injured and was taken to a nearby hospital; he is expected to recover, Iacono said.

Vallejo detectives and crime scene investigators went to the hotel to continue the investigation, and anyone who may have witnessed the crime or has information related to the shooting may call Detectives Fabio Rodriguez or Drew Ramsay, 707-648-4524.
