JAYDEE BOURSAW (far right) gets greeted at home plate by her Lady Bruin teammates after clubbing a home run against Pinole Valley.

Jaydee Boursaw hit a home run and the St. Patrick-St. Vincent High varsity softball team pounded out 20 hits in a 13-7 victory over visiting Pinole Valley on Friday.

It was the first meeting between the two teams this season and the Lady Bruins have now beaten every team in the Tri-County Athletic League. SPSV improved to 16-4 overall and 6-0 in the TCAL, three games ahead of Pinole Valley, Albany and Salesian with four games remaining.

“We were ready to hit today and just kept on hitting,” SPSV manager Rich Gigliotti said of Friday’s win over the Lady Spartans. “No one hits like us in the league and that might be the difference.”

Pinole Valley scored in the top of the first inning but SPSV answered right back in the bottom half when Boursaw doubled home Jennifer Adams. The Lady Bruins added three more runs in the second inning thanks to doubles by Marisa Avalos and Neenah Pangilinan.

The Lady Spartans rallied for a lone run in the top of the third, only to have SPSV answer back with three runs to make it 7-2. Doubles by Boursaw and Avalos and a single by Natalya Ocon did the damage. Boursaw blasted a solo homer to left-center in the fourth inning and the Lady Bruins blew the game open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 13-4.

Pinole Valley’s Summer White hit a three-run homer in the top of the seventh to end the scoring.

Boursaw ended up 4-for-5 on the day with three runs and two RBIs. Pangilinan drove in four, Adams and Avalos each had three hits, and Ocon scored twice.

Taya de Alba gave up 10 hits but pitched a complete game to earn the victory for the Lady Bruins, who play at St. Mary’s on Wednesday.
