The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High boys varsity volleyball team completed a season sweep of De Anza with a 25-9, 25-16, 25-20 victory over the Dons on Wednesday night.
The Bruins (16-7, 11-0 Tri-County Athletic League) took control of the match early, allowing head coach Danette Domecus to play her bench for the latter half of the night. SPSV needed only 19 kills to put the Dons out of their misery.
“De Anza definitely made a game of it, but we kind of helped that happen,” Domecus said. “But we got all of our players in, so it was a good night.”
Matthew Peters had six kills and teammate Noah Moretti added five kills for the Bruins, who haven’t lost a league match since 2008. Max King had three kills, Anthony Olmes had three aces and seven assists, and Mark Perez had two aces and five digs.
Other standouts for SPSV included Ryan Villaseran (seven assists), Dominic Nicolas (five assists) and Matthew Ortega (two aces).
SPSV doesn’t play again until April 14 at home against Hercules.
