A poor start to each half doomed the St. Patrick-St. Vincent High boys varsity basketball team in a 78-59 loss at Salesian on Tuesday.
The Bruins were outscored 22-10 in the first quarter and 22-3 in the third quarter. Salesian (16-7, 5-4 Tri-County Athletic League) led by 36 points midway through the second half.
Romeo Mays had 14 points for the Bruins (19-6, 6-3 TCAL), who have lost two straight for the first time this season. Jayson Laron hit three 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 13 points.
The Bruins wrap up the regular season Friday night at Hercules.
