SolTrans tinkers with times on pair of bus routes

April 6, 2014 by Donna Beth Weilenman Leave a Comment

Minor time changes to two SolTrans bus routes will start Monday, Jessica Deakyne, agency analyst, said, though Route 1 will start its day 20 minutes earlier.

The bus operator’s board of directors approved the modifications last month to Routes 1 and 3, Deakyne said.

The changes are the agency’s response to concerns expressed about schedule adherence, she said. In addition, they’ll also address changes in traffic conditions and slower boardings at stops along the route, she said.

“The proposed schedule changes will be cost-neutral,” she said. “They do not require additional financial resources or equipment.”

Before making the changes, agency employees spoke with transit operators, riders and the SolTrans board, and Deakyne said “staff is grateful for the participation of these groups.”

Modifications affect only weekday timed stops, with most of the changes within one to five minutes of previous times, she said.

However, Route 1’s first run of the morning will have the greatest change, shifting 20 minutes earlier from the first pickup of 5:50 a.m. to the new time of 5:30 a.m.

“Actual locations of bus stops for these routes have not changed,” Deakyne assured riders.

Those interested may visit the SolTrans website, www.soltransride.com. Fliers with the new schedule will be available on any of the local fixed-route buses, she said.
