Solid opener for BHS cross country team

Benicia High’s varsity cross country teams had solid openings at the Solano County Athletic Conference meet Wednesday at Lynch Canyon as the Panther boys tied for first and the Lady Panthers won outright.

Benicia junior Luis Ramirez won the varsity boys race with a time of 18:17. Teammate Joe Carrillo was fourth (20:11) and John Kuta was fifth (20:22). Vanden and Benicia finished tied for the top team spot, but Vanden was awarded the win with its sixth runner finishing 13th compared to 16th for the Panthers.

Benicia’s Enid Partika won the varsity girls race with a time of 22:39 as the Lady Panthers easily won the girls meet. Rachel Kravitz was fourth with a time of 24:53.

Benicia runs again next Wednesday meet at Hanns Park in Vallejo.
