Solano evacuees return home over weekend

October 17, 2017 by Editor Leave a Comment

Residents of Suisun Valley and Green Valley in Fairfield who were evacuated due to the close proximity of the Atlas Fire got to return to their homes over the weekend. Solano Community College (above) served as an evacuation center after the fires broke out, providing free food and bedding while the representatives from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office periodically came in to provide updates. As of Sunday evening, areas near Twin Sisters Road where the fire reached remained under advisory status as a precaution if wind conditions changed. According to a Solano County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook post, the California National Guard, firefighters and utility workers will remain in the Fairfield area for the next few days to prevent people from looting or trying to occupy vacant homes.
