BENICIA SENIORS (from left) Evan Sousa, Caitlin Wirth, Nathan Robertson, Justeen Singley, Nick Barlow, Nicole Peck and Cris Gomez have been a big reason for the swim team’s success this spring.

The Benicia Panthers will vie for the swimming crown this weekend at the SCAC championship meet hosted by American Canyon. The Panther boys and girls went undefeated during the regular reason but still need a victory on Saturday to bring home another pennant.

The Benicia Herald wants to honor the Panther seniors who swam for Benicia for four years.

Justeen Singley (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) – Singley will be attending Santa Rosa Junior College where she plans to compete on the water polo and swim teams for the Bear Cubs.

Nicole Peck (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) – Peck is a second-year captain for the Lady Panthers. She will be attending Azusa Pacific University to major in allied health and swim for the Cougars.

Caitlin Wirth (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke) – Wirth is a team captain for the Lady Panthers. She will be attending Diablo Valley College to major in business and possibly swim for the Vikings.

Nicholas Barlow (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) – Barlow is a second-year captain for the Panthers. He will attend a summer session at Brigham Young University and check out their swim program before embarking on a two-year mission for the LDS church.

Crisoforo Gomez (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) – Gomez is a second-year captain for the Panthers. He has enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and qualified for their demanding water rescue program. Gomez ships out for Cape May, N.J., in September.

David Larson (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) – Larson will be attending Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo where he will major in electrical engineering and swim for the Mustangs.

Timothy Man (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) – Man will be attending the University of Illinois and majoring in mechanical engineering. He looks to continue swimming after graduation.

Nathan Robertson (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) – Robertson will be attending Cal Maritime Academy to major in facilities engineering technology and play water polo for the Keelhaulers.

Evan Sousa (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) – Sousa is a team captain for the Panthers. He will attend either U.C. Davis or Cal Maritime Academy and major in mechanical engineering.
