Benicia Police have arrested two men allegedly involved with the attempted burglary of a home for sale.
During the morning of July 16, a realtor was showing a home for sale on Ardmore Way when she saw two men exiting the staged home. Noticing they had been spotted, both men began to flee on foot. These men, later identified as 38-year-old Vallejo resident Edgar Vizcaino and 35-year-old Vallejo resident Hector Hernandez, ran to a car down the street. Vizcaino and Hernandez then tried to leave the area. Police soon responded to calls and located the vehicle. Vizcaino and Hernandez were contacted by officers, and during the course of their investigation, police found methamphetamine, a stolen Amazon package and burglary tools in the possession of both men. They were later identified as the same men leaving the home.
Vizcaino was arrested for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and driving on a suspended license. Hernandez was arrested for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
Hernandez and Vizcaino were transported and booked into Solano County Jail. Arrangements were made to pick up the amazon package after the owner was contacted by police.
“While we are glad to have arrested two of the suspects, our community should still stay vigilant and look out for one another,” the Benicia Police Department wrote on its Facebook page. “The Benicia Police Department will continue to relentlessly pursue all those who chose to prey upon our community. Our success in combating criminal behavior comes from our partnership with all of you.”
