Poetry Corner: James Garrett “She Gave”

December 30, 2016 by James M. Garrett 2 Comments

She gave me her love.
I didn’t search for it.
She simply gave it,
Total, unquestioned love.
A whisper in the air,
Was all I felt at first.
It grew to be so much more,
In thought and touch.
The kindness.
The care.
Contentment.
A peace.
Showing commitment.
True to her word.
Smiles on her face.
Laughs at my jokes.
Hands held for hours.
Hair stroked at night.
Warm breath of closeness.
Hugs, firm and long.
The snuggles of embrace.
The look just for me.
The need of that done.
The color and flair.
Growing over the years,
More in me than her.
She had it from the start,
She saw my soul.
Fate gifted the love of my life.
Fate gifted the love of my wife.

A lovely tribute Jim, and one that many of us can feel as well.
