I’ve been very lucky.
Lucky in life.
With a handsome son,
And a beautiful wife.
At times I was foolish,
Or too blind to see.
Others saw things,
They thought were me.
Lucky in birth,
And lucky with Cupid.
My love at my side,
Even when I was stupid.
I’ve had it made.
Growing old in age.
Youth a memory.
History on a page.
Things to do over.
Things to forget.
One thing a smile.
One a regret.
Testosterone poisoning.
The heat of the night.
The cool of the breeze,
At dawn’s first light.
At times I return there,
View a face from the past.
They seemed there forever,
But time flew them past.
Young, bright sailors.
I wish them all well.
Peace be with them,
At day’s last bell.
