The four letter word Navy,
Once meant both love and “yuck”.
It gave trials and errors,
For a strong, young buck.
Individuals form families,
Blood connects most.
The adopted were chosen,
Oath closed to boast.
Sun adopted Rock,
He granted rays day and night.
His ears heard sounds of the past.
His eyes saw far past sight.
Sun, the Master Teacher always,
Offered a feast, and offered a bite.
He gave wisdom hidden to most,
And taught by word and might.
He taught that one thing was easy,
But another belief was right.
Day revealed deepness of honor,
Night brought shadowy light.
At times the Devil swims in my head,
Swirling in a mystic maze.
Darting in, he lingers,
Bringing memories from the haze.
Then a sound from that distant time,
Pushes him from mind.
Once more,
A calmer place I find.
“Bravo Zulu,” extended.
Navy signal, “Well Done.”
Honored words, bestowed rarely,
Given in love from Sun to Son.
“Bravo Zulu,” returned,
In a distant prayer.
Words received while young,
From one common, but rare.
