We came back once more to the town.
We had once walked there.
Our steps led to the water.
Misty aromas filled the air.
The scenes had changed,
As all scenes do.
Many walk there now,
Where once there were two.
The chill of the wind.
The hand held tight.
Sounds to the ear,
Softened in the foggy night.
The sniffle of your nose.
On my shoulder your head.
The walks got longer.
We went where our shoes led.
Your lips on mine.
Your perfume in my mind.
The press of your body.
Your words loving and kind.
Fifty years of walks.
You by my side.
I would be lost,
Without you as my guide.
