Poetry Corner: James Garrett “Brightness Came”

October 20, 2017 by James M. Garrett Leave a Comment

There lay Jimmy, sick and sad.
His cold had made him feel so bad.
While other boys went out to play,
Jimmy had in bed to stay.
How much we wanted him to rise,
To see the sparkle in his eyes.
Then magic crossed young Jimmy’s face,
And awakened him to a sunny place.
His cold had passed, and his sadness too.
Now to keep him calm was all we could do.
First to a breakfast fit for a king,
Laughing and shouting, oh how he did sing.
With his faithful bear Teddy,
His friend always ready.
They met the day,
With joy and play.
Great explorations, and daring deeds too,
The world was filled with things to do.
