Poetry Corner: Bobby Richardson “A Tear Drop Will Never Be Enough”

September 7, 2018 by Bobby Richardson Leave a Comment

They were not supposed to die that day
They were not supposed to leave us
They were not supposed to die that way
Leaving America and the world
to grieve them

They were part of who this Country was
They were what made it the “Home of the Brave”!!
And when they took them away that day
They took a piece of our innocence
and naivet’e

They stayed to help the helpless
who was vulnerable and hurt
A symbol of their Patriotism
that still permeates Ground Zero’s
Sacred Dirt

But rest assured every 9/11
I will always remember them
As those who paid the ultimate price
And as I stand to salute them
A Tear Drop will roll down this man’s EYE!!
