Shifting winds from the Northern California wildfires caused a smokey haze to settle in Benicia on Wedesday. As of press time, Benicia was not under evacuation, but evacuations were prompted in certain regions of Fairfield. The city of Benicia is continuing to monitor the situation, including through an increase in staffing at the Benicia Fire Department, and will utilize its AlertBenicia application to send emergency notifications if things change.
