Benicia Parks and Community Services resumes its summer “Movie Night Under the Stars” program Friday night with “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

The movie starts at dusk at City Park, at the intersection of Military West and First Street, and free popcorn will be served.

Ed Oxenbould stars as Alexander, who begins a calamitous day with gum stuck in his hair. Things get progressively worse throughout the day for both the boy and his family, played by Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette and Kerris Dorsey.

The Disney family comedy is based on the children’s picture book by the same name, written by Judith Viorst.

Those attending may bring pillows, blankets or low chairs so they can sit back to watch the movie. Families often use the movie night as a chance to have a picnic in the park, too.

Department officials ask that moviegoers leave their pets at home because they are not allowed in the park.
