Motown tribute group to close out 2017 with Empress concert

December 24, 2017 by George Johnston Leave a Comment

The new year is a time to deliver good intentions. Why not close out the year with The Best Intentions– that is to say, the rhythm and blues group of the same name when they come to Vallejo?
With soulful tunes that bring to mind the classic R&B music from the 60’s, 70’s and beyond, Oakland-based group The Best Intentions will ring in the new year at the Empress Theatre on Dec. 31.
The eight-piece band features five vocalists who bring their harmonies to the timeless Motown classics by the likes of the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, the Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles and more. Those familiar with groups like the Spinners, the O’Jays and the Dells should know what to expect. The group has toured all across the western parts of North America, including in Canada.
The Empress Theatre is located at 330 Virginia St. in Vallejo. Doors open at 6 p.m. An hour later, VIPS will have a chance to enjoy a catered dinner at 7 p.m. The show itself begins at 9 p.m. and runs until 2018.  Ticket prices range anywhere between $35 for upper balcony seating to $400 for a front row table. For tickets and additional information, go to EmpressTheatre.org.
