Thanks to volunteers for 4-H event
In regards to the article on Solano 4-H’ers in the Jan. 30 paper, I was honored to be asked to judge projects the 4-H’ers created at the annual Solano County 4-H Project Skills Day, held at Pena Adobe Middle School in Vacaville Saturday, Jan. 20.
These events do not just happen. Breakfast and lunch were provided to all of the volunteers. At least 30 volunteers came and judged the food and non-food categories.
The experience was just like school where students had to talk and explain their project. The day was enjoyable. I would highly recommend that members of the community volunteer. The young people are amazing
Monica Brown;
Solano County Supervisor, District 2
Thanks all around
Music For Our Children would like to thank Solano County Supervisor Monica Brown for her generous contribution of $1,500 to the Solano County Honor Band event ending in a public performance on Jan. 14 at the Vacaville Performing Arts Theater. Music students from throughout Solano County auditioned for the honor of studying with and performing under the direction of Rossano Galante, a composer for television and movies.
Mr. Galante composed an original piece for the 60th annual Solano County High School Honor Band concert titled “Land of the Healing Waters.” One hundred twenty five young musicians were selected to participate in the rehearsals, all day workshop and then perform his work under Mr. Galante’s direction.
Other contributors were the Fairfield-Suisun Rotary, Josiassen Farms, the Grokenberger Family, Linn Benson, Jim Edwards and Potrero Hills Land Fill. Your donations were very much appreciated by the students, parents and general audience at the event.
Music For Our Children is very grateful for the contributions toward this truly magnificent event . For further information about the work of Music For Our Children contact Cliff Gordon at (707) 422-0313 during the day and evening. We are always looking for interested volunteers to help with our programs.
