Letters: More police supervision needed at events

July 7, 2017 by Editor Leave a Comment

More police supervision at events

I would like to thank our police force for responding quickly and efficiently to a shooting incident that happened in our neighborhood a month ago.
With that said, I would like to request that our celebration gatherings at our parks would be better supervised by our police.
This last 4th of July at our Military and First Street park, there were youth sitting by tables and rolling joints, individuals exchanging money for little wrapped up packages (drug dealing?) and youth waving guns and discharging caps.
There were two very young female police officers on site, way too few to supervise such a vast event.
We are known as a safe small town. People are bringing their kids to join our festivities. If we become lax about what we allow to take place at these events, we will attract more dangerous activities.

Respectfully,

Nikki Basch-Davis,
Benicia
