Letters: ISO panel and kudos to Peter Bray

November 5, 2017 by Editor 6 Comments

Come to ISO panel at Library

The May 5 major flaring event at the Valero Refinery in Benicia was another indicator of the continuing need for local oversight and verification of safe refinery operations.
Benicia is the only refinery town in the Bay Area without the protection of an Industrial Safety Ordinance (ISO) that protects not only refinery workers but citizens as well. An ISO would also ensure that the city of Benicia would have immediate access to refinery audits from which to take action to insure safe operations are taken by Valero for the health and safety of our community.
Please come to a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Dona Benicia Room of the Benicia Public Library, 150 E. L St. to learn more about industrial safety from a panel of experts from Contra Costa Hazardous Materials office, California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal EPA) and the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal OSHA).

Constance Beutel,
Benicia

Peter is right

Please extend my appreciation to your columnist Peter Bray for his brilliant column “Mad Dog and Bozos” in the Nov. 2 edition of the Benicia Herald.
Mr. Bray summed up the appalling display of ignorance and incompetence of the administration currently occupying the White House with insight and accuracy. Thank you for including his column in the newspaper.

Georgia T. Benedict,
Benicia

Peter Bray is an out and out Socialist Progressive. He does not like any Republicans. I assure you he does not like me. I believe his article was very anti American and did not help the cause of the Socialist Progressives. His favorites Bernie and Warren are going no where. I am glad to see what he writes in the local paper. It gives insight to what folks are saying and thinking. Peter will be writing for a very long time. Politics is not his long suit.

Oh, Bob, go back to your owl costume and misogynistic, repetitive rants about Mayor Patterson.
If this is the best you can do with your retirement hours, you’re a role model to no one brighter than that soon to be impeached, treasonous dullard Donald, another misogynistic excuse for a WH occupant.

Constance I do believe the state ISO covers Valero and Benicia. Did it help in Contra Costa County to have their own ISO? It appears not so. Another attempt by the Socialist Progressive to hit on the local refinery and a big waste of time and money.Think Chevron.

Peter Bray, as usual, offered entertaining words that rang true.

Thank you, Thomas, the Owl’s comments are always cliche-tired and “for the birds”.
