Letters: Cleanup Day and retirement benefits meeting

June 9, 2017 by Editor Leave a Comment

Cleanup Day a great success

Benicia Main Street would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped out with our annual
Downtown Benicia Cleanup Day, which took place Saturday, May 13. More than 25 volunteers came out to help spruce up our downtown area, including individuals and members of Rotary Club of Benicia and Rodriguez High School Leadership Class.
Benicia Main Street would also like to extend a special thank-you to Republic Services for providing a BBQ lunch for all who participated!

Sincerely,

Benicia Main Street

Important meeting for retired federal employees

Are you an active or retired federal employee? Did you know that the president’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year eliminates all cost of living allowances for FERS retirees, and the COLAs for CSRS retirees would be reduced by 0.5 percent each year? Congress is threatening to pass a postal reform bill that jeopardizes postal employee health benefits if they don’t sign up for Medicare B. We need to support the GPO/WEP reform. Bring your questions for discussion. If we can’t answer them, we will publish a Q&A in the newsletter.
You CAN defend your benefits. Find out what you can do. Come to the NARFE meeting on June 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Florence Douglas Senior Center, 333 Amador Street, Vallejo. For more information, call President Robin Leong at 643-1287.

Rose Utterback,
NARFE
