A wonderful man who will be missed
Benicia lost a wonderful friend a few weeks ago, Norman D. Koerner. He was 87 and lived in Benicia for the past 41 years. He was the kindest person you could ever meet.
To me, he was a real Christian, always caring about the other guy especially those who had very little. As the old saying goes, it’s better to give than to receive, and that’s what Norm was all about. He really was a loving man.
As a landlord, it was common to see Norm receive late rent payments from some people having a hard time. His attitude was, “Pay me when you can, and don’t worry about it.” I knew several people who paid Norm their rent several months late only because they really didn’t have the money to pay him and because Norm was a kind person, he didn’t charge them a late fine like most landlords would charge.
I’m sure there will never be a person like Norm, at least in my lifetime. Norm will really be missed by many people who live in Benicia,
