Letter: Fantastic Sams Giving Tree was a success

Fantastic Sams Giving Tree was a success

Thanks in large part to the awesome publicity the Benicia Herald provided us—first with a front-page story and then through ongoing coverage in the Community Calendar—the 2017 Giving Tree at Fantastic Sams Cut & Color was a rousing success. This week, I delivered our treasure trove to the Benicia Community Action Council: 90 new and unwrapped toys, puzzles, and books for kids of all ages; 3 gift cards; and $30 in cash. The value of all this bounty: PRICELESS.
Enthusiastic thanks to our fantastic customers who went all out to make this year’s Giving Tree a generous success. Much appreciation to returning Salon Manager Michele Kenny, who– along with our stylists– rebuilt community enthusiasm for this annual event. We began our season with a kick-off party just before Thanksgiving: staff “decked the halls;” they decorated the Christmas tree with suggestions for kids in need and donated gifts themselves; valued customer Linda Moore conducted a Christmas Bell Concert; other customers enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies. And then the giving began… and continued through the last day we could accept and then deliver donated presents to the CAC.
Our hope is that Fantastic Sams has added to a Merry Christmas for the wonderful children of Benicia! The magic of a small town and its core of locally owned businesses is the ability to serve the community in which we live and work. Happy Holidays, one and all.

Karen Love,
Fantastic Sams owner
