Letter: Don’t raise rent rates

March 25, 2018 by Editor 1 Comment

Don’t raise rent rates

Because San Francisco has become a place where they have the highest rent in the country, many people are moving to other places. I see Solano County starting to raise apartment rates, trying to do what they do in San Francisco. There are so many people on fixed incomes that are having a very hard time making ends meet. our children are staying at home longer because they can not afford to rent.
As a person who cares about other people, as we all should, I’m appealing to tll those property owners to keep the rental prices reasonable. As we see everything going up, it’s really hard today for many people. It’s really all our jobs to care about the other guy instead of thinking, How much money can I put in the bank if I keep raising the rent?

I think the real issue Mike is just what is reasonable. I assume you think it is OK for a property owner to get a reasonable ROI. Interest rates are going up, water/sewer is going up, Add to that maintenance costs and just general upkeep. I sure hope you do not want a bunch of dirty un-kept rentals in town. It could well be that because we are in Benicia the rents, appearance, schools and a very friendly family community makes Benicia a bargain. I care about the other guy, but just who is the other guy in your opinion?
