(UPDATE: This leak has been repaired as of noon yesterday)

Brad Woltz, a concerned Benicia resident, contacted the Herald Friday to report a leak he had observed over the past five weeks, issuing a steady stream of water from a pipe joint on Industrial Way, in the Benicia Industrial Park. Woltz claimed to have contacted Benicia’s Public Works Department and the water treatment plant on several occasions, only to be told repeatedly that the leak would be repaired.
The Herald has confirmed that the pipe is indeed leaking, at least at the time of this writing, at a rate that appears to be approx. one gallon per five minutes’ time, based strictly on visual observation. The property, located at 5357 Industrial Way, is currently being leased by tenant Areva, an electric services company.
Public Works Mangaement Analyst Carrie Wenslawski informed the Herald Friday that they would “send someone out right away” to investigate the leak.

The water leak is on the customer’s side of the water meter and the responsibility of the property owner to fix. It is good to see that it was fixed.

If a customer sees a leak or has a higher than normal water bill that indicates that they have a leak, then they can call 746-4240 for assistance.
