League of Women Voters plans open house

September 29, 2014 by Donna Beth Weilenman Leave a Comment

The League of Women Voters Benicia will welcome the public to a fall open house Wednesday, when the organization will introduce its new board of directors and interim coordinating team.

Members of the interim coordinating team are Vice President Niles Medders, Secretary Patricia Pepin and Director Susan Street.

The board is made up of the interim coordinating team, Treasurer Judy Potter, and Malin Coleridge, Julie Mann, Susan Neuhaus, Belinda Smith and Gayle Vaughan.

Those attending the open house will learn more about what the group and its Benicia chapter do, and will be able to share their views about community issues and their own interests, Vaughan and Street said.

They’ll be divided into small groups to talk about specific topics, after which they will share their conversations. Their views will be considered in future LWV events and programs.

Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization open to both men and women in Benicia and Vallejo, has been active locally for about 10 years.

The organization promotes political responsibility and encourages informed and active participation in government.

It also participates in voter registration drives, conducts voter forums and schedules monthly events and educational programs related to the public and political policies.

Those interested in attending the open house, or who have questions about the organization, may contact Susan Neuhaus by email at svmcgee@sbcglobal.net or by phone at 707-373-6879.

The Fall Open House will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Southampton Swim Club, 10 Chelsea Hills Drive.
