The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High girls varsity volleyball team got the Tri-County Athletic League season off to a good start with a 25-5, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of John Swett on Tuesday in Crockett.
Tiffany Diaz had 10 aces and 10 digs for the Lady Bruins (10-4, 1-0 TCAL), who dominated the first set and were never seriously challenged by Swett (0-3, 0-1 TCAL).
“We started off really strong and then we kind of just played around with them,” said SPSV head coach Danette Domecus. “We had some personal goals we wanted to meet and we didn’t get them. But we won in three and got everybody in so that was a good thing.”
Halle Webster finished with a season-high six blocks and three kills for SPSV. Nikki Lumauod added six kills and two aces, and setter Catherine Cortez had nine assists. Other standouts for the Lady Bruins included Isabelle Villalobos (four kills, four digs), Candice Turk (four kills, two blocks), Aubrey Cadiz (four aces, five digs), Jazalyn Cruz (three blocks) and freshman Kamryn Mitchell (five assists, six digs).
SPSV hosts St. Mary’s on Thursday.
