The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High varsity softball team beat visiting St. Mary’s, 10-1, in the Tri-County Athletic League opener for both teams Wednesday.
Taya de Alba pitched a complete game for the Lady Bruins (8-1, 1-0 TCAL) and allowed only four hits with three strikeouts. Chelsea Mari, Jaydee Boursaw, Jennifer Adams, Olivia Soley and Natalya Ocon each had a double.
“We hit the heck outta the ball over the weekend and just picked up where we left off,” said SPSV manager Rich Gigliotti. “We played pretty well.”
Soley went 2-for-2 and had four RBIs on the day. Mari drove in three runs while Boursaw, Adams and Neenah Pangilinan each scored twice. SPSV scored three runs in the first inning and put the game away with four runs in the fifth.
The Lady Bruins play at Albany on Friday.
