People wonder why each day
I write a poem to read
To bring a smile or make them think
Fulfills my greater need

But most of all this age requires
Our language to be clear
We write our thoughts in shortened ways
While texting to our peers

BFF and OMG
Are insincere at best
Foolish fads that make talk cheap
They make your meaning less

I write this verse for you today
It is my sacred duty
Reminding people everywhere
That written words have beauty
