Jeff Burkhart’s “Rhyme and Reason”: What Happened to Forever?

November 5, 2017 by Jeff Burkhart Leave a Comment

Life was smooth and easy
As each day just slipped along
You and me together
We were both where we belonged

I think it was a Wednesday
In the winter or the fall
That we began to bicker
About what I don’t recall

You said, “You were the on that said…”
I said, “You said you’d never…”
How short our time together
And what happened to forever

I’ve been around the block
And I have heard love sung in song
And still I sit and wonder
How that we both got it wrong
