Jeff Burkhart’s ‘Rhyme and Reason’: Useless Chatter

March 6, 2014 by Jeff Burkhart Leave a Comment

WE ALL WAKE UP TO FACE EACH DAY
And do the things we do
I think when it’s all said and done
We haven’t got a clue
We race around and spend and make
And waste or save our bread
We drive in cars and hang in bars
And live inside our heads
We go to work then we get paid
You know the paradigm
I think if we’d just stop we’d see
We’re only killing time
Turn the TV set to 10
See man land on the moon
Watch the game it’s all the same
It all will end quite soon
Let’s gather into groups and tell
Ourselves it really matters
We’ll flap our gums till they get numb
Exchanging useless chatter
