Last Thursday I was in Houston to welcome my newest grandson into the world. Those of you that follow me on Facebook already know that little Beckham’s lungs weren’t quite ready. He has been in the neonatal ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston ever since. It was touch and go for a while but I am happy to report he has turned the corner and will be going home to meet his brother Madden Saturday if his improvements continue. I wrote this for Beckham and sent it out to the hundreds of well-wisher’s that were reading my daily chronicle of our journey.
A prayer.
What is it?
A wish? A request? A projected thought?
I believe a prayer is a pulse sent out from one or more individuals.
There is an electrical connection with everything in the universe.
At an atomic level all the somethings in the Universe look like the nothings between them.
The unifying theme of their composition is electricity, gravity and electromagnetism.
When a prayer or wish emanates out with unselfish purity, it can join together with other prayers and become stronger and stronger still until…
It can actually form a collective will that can change the Universe, (or even a tiny bit of the Universe) for the better!
I believe and I ask you all to believe with me now.

The Prayer We Pray
(For Beckham Fin Hiller)
Words of wisdom fill my head
So that I might explain
Why innocence must suffer so
Beset with strife and pain
That we, so blessed to have you here
Can’t hold you to our cheek
And so we pray the world be kind
To one so small and meek
Behold; our little miracle
Withstand this raging gale
Above your bed the angels watch
We pray that they not fail
Worry not my little man
As we all pray for you
That God might fill your sails with wind
And make our prayer come true

Jeff,
It sounds as if the prayers were answered as Beckham is headed home! I know it was a tough struggle and I am sure the support from many was there for the little guy. Wishing you and all your family the best.
