TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION
Nuclear proliferation
Dylan’s music spread the news
Elvis wore his blue suede shoes
Bras were banned and then came back
Free lovers frolicked in the sack
Lennon sang “Give Peace a Chance”
Chubby Checker’s twisting dance
Long-haired whites and afro’d blacks
Ohio’s Guard; Kent State attacks
Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison
Charlie Parker dead and done
Years have passed still people search
For ones to put atop a perch
Youth still looking for a clue
Everywhere a new tattoo
Time has passed what’s done is made
The foiling of the plans best laid
So much noise computer screens
No one knows what it all means
I recall John Lennon’s voice
“Find yourself some peace,” rejoice
Most were lost but some were saved
He’s probably flipping in his grave
