DID YOU EVER NOTICE
When you sense something appealing
You find yourself forever bent
On hanging to that feeling
It could be most anything
That causes that sensation
And turns a thing you try just once
Into a huge temptation
It could come from taste
And sugar just might be involved
You might detect a chance for sex
It’s how we all evolved
It’s really quite Pavlovian
Responding to condition
The way it takes away from us
The choice of our volition
Just ask a cocaine addict
All about their predilection
They’ll claim they do it all by choice
It isn’t an addiction
When at once you realize
You’re hooked let’s hope revulsion
Will give you all the strength you need
To kick your own compulsion
