12 JURORS IN A LEGAL BOUT
Deliberate and search for doubt
Big-time lawyers sort it out
Pontificate and snort and shout
Defendant sits, he’s feeling weak
Justice sought for havoc wreaked
Charges filed, suspicions piqued
Hope they find the truth they seek
The lawyers end; their cases rest
12 people try to do their best
The facts are vague (no one confessed)
The pressure builds they’re feeling stress
It’s done; I hope the wrong was righted
Verdict’s read to one indicted
Public rage might be incited
Some are mad and some delighted
Go to jail or walk the street
A pound of flesh, we want red meat
The will of 12 in jury seats
Right or wrong their work’s complete
