The Humane Society of the North Bay (HSNB) is going Greek for its annual Barkitecture building competition and fundraiser event this Saturday.
Barkitecture– one of HSNB’s most popular events– provides an opportunity for people to build homes for animals in a festive, competitive sphere. The results help provide care for lost, abandoned, and neglected animals in Solano County. According to the Humane Society, more than 1,600 dogs, cats, and rabbits were given homes last year.
The theme of this year’s Barkitecture is “Animal House: Party Like an Animal.” There will be a menu of Greek delicacies, and togas are highly encouraged. The day will also include beer and wine, plus a live, silent and dessert auction with all proceeds going back to the animals.
On April 9, pet habitats went on display at Vallejo City Hall. Winners of the habitat contest will be announced at the Gala on Saturday. All habitats will be auctioned off to benefit the animals.
The event will be held 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at USA World Classics Event Center, located at 1525 Sonoma Blvd. in Vallejo. For more information, visit http://hsnb.org/barkitecture-build/
