Gallerie Renee Marie will kick off the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 26 with an open house to celebrate a special show called “Season of Giving.” The open house will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and feature art created by its 11 resident artists. The show will run throughout the holidays with all the art available for sale.
“We wanted to have the gallery open and dazzling with holiday cheer as part of Small Business Saturday,” said Renee Marie Jordan, owner of the gallery which is housed in her office, Jordan Real Estate. “Our artists have designed some special artwork that will be perfect gifts for people of all ages.”
Small Business Saturday, celebrated two days after Thanksgiving, has grown to be a popular addition to the post-Thanksgiving season and is a more relaxed experience than the hectic Black Friday.
Rather than showcasing one artist, Gallerie Renee Marie will highlight the work of all member artists throughout the holidays.
“Our goal has been to create affordable art and gifts,” said Jordan who is also one of the gallery’s artists. “We hope that people choose to make their first holiday purchase a piece of art or a handcrafted item made by a local artist. It would be a great gift for a special someone or for yourself.”
Gallerie Renee Marie’s open house will be one of a number of events planned in Benicia for Small Business Saturday.
“We are very supportive of Benicia’s annual Open Studios scheduled for the following weekend,” Jordan said. “But we also want to focus attention on our fellow downtown galleries and other small businesses on this special day.”
Jordan said that the entire day should be loads of fun and comes complete with a roving band of musicians who will perform at four different locations on First Street.
“Benicia looks so beautiful during the holidays, and this event will be wonderful way to get the season started,” she said. “It’s a great chance to check out our unique shops and galleries, eat at a favorite restaurant and hear some great music too. We invite everyone to come out for the day and visit us during our Open House.”
Member artists of Gallerie Renee Marie are Grace Cohen, Vicki Byrum Dennis, Laura Garcia, Stephanie Gray, LorriMarie Jenkins, Renee Marie Jordan, Keri Luiz, Anne Petty, Nicky Ruxton, Stephen Schumm and Robert Schweibert.
In addition to snacks and great affordable art, Gallerie Renee Marie artists will be available to talk about their own art during the Open House on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The gallery is located at 1038 First Street, Benicia, and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
