Authorities say Denise Louise Huskins, 30, believed held for ransom
Vallejo Police Department has asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other agencies to join their “full-court press” search for Denise Louise Huskins, 30, who was reported kidnapped for ransom early Monday morning.A 30-year-old man called Vallejo police about 1:55 p.m. Monday, saying Huskins was forcibly taken against her will from a home in the 500 block of Kirkland Avenue on Mare Island in Vallejo, Lt. Kenny Park said.
Park declined to explain the delay in reporting the incident.
He referred to the caller as “the man who reported the crime,” and would not confirm his relationship with Huskins. He said officers have been interviewing him to gain more information about the incident.
Neighbors said the man was Huskins’s boyfriend, and said both are Kaiser Permanente employees. Police said the woman’s family lives in Southern California, but is traveling north to be closer to the case.“As of this moment, Ms. Huskins’s whereabouts are unknown,” Park said in an update Tuesday.
Explaining that the man reporting the abduction isn’t considered a suspect or “person of interest,” Park said, “We are treating this matter as a kidnap for ransom,” because the man told police he heard a ransom demand during the abduction.
“All I can tell you is that there was a ransom demand,” he said. “We’re still piecing the puzzle together.”
Also taken Monday was Huskins’s white 2000 Toyota Camry, with the California license plate 4GQA436. But the car was found later Monday in another Vallejo location the department isn’t disclosing, Park said.
“Police detectives are investigating all leads and have requested the assistance of the FBI, as well as the Solano County Office of Emergency Services search teams,” Park said.
Huskins is described as a white woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, standing 5 feet, 7 inches and weighing 150 pounds.
In addition, he said, the department is asking anyone with information that could help the investigation to call Vallejo Police Department Investigations, 707-648-4524.
