The older people get, the more dealing with money becomes a necessity. For the millennial generation who may have just graduated from college, started a new career or are planning to move out and get their homes in the future, they may have several financial questions they may hope to have answered. Thankfully for them, the Benicia branch of the investment advisory firm North Capital, Inc. will be hosting its free financial workshop “Millennials and Money” again this year.
North Capital hosted the workshop last year at the Benicia Public Library, and it saw a large turnout. Erin Gizzi, who attended the event last year, said the workshops provided a lot of useful monetary tips for young adults.
“We learned a lot about very simple investing tricks and things like buying your first home, saving up retirement funds and things like that,” she said. “There were a lot of new terms that were introduced to us, and then we were told how to make our money work for us.”
At this year’s workshop, panelists will discuss topics like saving money, managing college debt, establishing good credit, maximizing paychecks and investing for the past and present. There will also be prizes and refreshments.
Gizzi hopes attendees will find the information presented to be vital.
“Anyone who’s a young adult right now, I think it’s a really beneficial workshop and the information, even if you think you know it, I think it’s really useful information and everyone can learn something new.”
The free workshop will be held from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Estey Real Estate, located at 216 First St. Although not required, North Capital is encouraging people to ask questions in advance, which can be done by contacting managing director and certified financial planner Frances Harkins at 418-5536 or fharkins@northcapital.com. She will also be able to provide more information on the event.
