The Solano County Fair will return on Wednesday, and it is bringing five days of musical entertainment with it.

Headliners on the PG&E Galaxy Stage

Wednesday, Aug. 2: The first headliner will be Gospel Rocks Solano. Featuring the talents of Christian minister and recording artist Vicki Yohe and Geoffrey Golden who won on the seventh season of the BET singing competition show “Sunday Best,” Gospel Rocks Solano will be bringing other musical and inspirational artists to the PG&E Galaxy Stage for an evening of soulful music and words of worship. The set begins at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to last three hours.

Thursday, Aug. 3: The following day, Lenny Williams will take the stage. The Oakland native was the lead singer of the legendary Bay Area funk band Tower of Power during the period that saw the band score some of its biggest hits, including “So Very Hard to Go” and “What is Hip?” Williams also has had a successful solo career and has been sampled by hip-hop artists for more than a decade. He will perform on the PG&E Galaxy Stage at 8 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 4: Also performing on the PG&E Galaxy Stage will be The Original Lakeside—formerly known as Lakeside—the Dayton, Ohio funk band best known for their 1980 No. 1 R&B hit “Fantastic Voyage.” Lakeside are considered the first band to use a theme for each of their album covers, with the band donning a new costume for each of them. On one cover, they would be dressed as Robin Hood-style archers. On the next, they would be dressed as cowboys, and so on. Relive the fantastic voyage when they take the stage at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 5: This day will bring two bands to the stage. The first is Metalachi, a Southern California group that describes itself as “the world’s first and only heavy metal mariachi band.” If you ever wanted to hear corrido renditions of songs by Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, then you will enjoy Metalachi. They will begin their set at 5 p.m. and will be followed by Journey Revisited at 8 p.m. The Modesto-based group will pay tribute to the San Francisco arena rock band Journey, particularly their heyday period from 1978 to 1996 with Steve Perry as lead singer. With lead vocalist Jeff Salado channeling the voice of Perry, fans of the group will be treated to pitch-perfect renditions of some of Journey’s most famous songs, including “Separate Ways,” “Any Way You Want it,” “Lights,” “Faithfully” and, of course, the ever-enduring “Don’t Stop Believing.”

Sunday, Aug. 6: The Fair’s musical entertainment will all culminate with a Fiesta Concert, featuring La Proxima Banda, Banda La Incomparable and headliners Banda Troyana. This concert will begin at 6 p.m.

There will also be a variety of performances on the Bay Stage, including The Steve Bayner Hypnotist Show, electric jazz group Charged Particles, country band Buck Nickels & Loose Change, San Francisco pop singer Clayton J. Foor, the Dave Rocha Hard Bop Jazz Quartet, The Concept Party Band, Business Casual A Cappella, rhythm and blues group UB707 and a whole lot more.

The Cultural Pavillion stage have performers from throughout the world and feature everything from Filipino singers and dancers, martial arts demonstrations, Hawaiian and Polynesian dancers, Cuban and Latin bands, belly dancers and more. For times, go to scfair.com.

While enjoying the music, Fair attendees can also take part in the many attractions, including petting zoos, pony rides, fine arts and photography exhibitions, classic car displays, cooking contests, bungee trampolines, funhouses, carousels and, of course, the Ferris wheel.
