April 30, 2015 by Donna Beth Weilenman Leave a Comment

A series of free workshops organized by the Solano County Department of Child Services will explain the child support process to parents and other family members, said Matthew Davis, county senior management analyst and public communications officer.

The Compromise of Arrears workshops will teach people how to reduce past state-owed child support debt, Davis said, and those attending will learn more about the state program, how to complete an application and what to expect as its processed.

Department employees will help participants with applications, he said.

These workshops will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5, June 2, July 7, Aug. 4, Sept. 1, Oct. 6 and Nov. 3 in the Solano County Department of Child Services, 435 Executive Court North, Fairfield.

The department will offer workshops on review and adjustment, the process of modifying a court order if someone believes he or she is paying too much or receiving too little in child support, Davis said.

Those attending will learn who can request a modification, how one can be requested and what happens during the modification process.

These workshops will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 21, July 16, Sept. 17 and Nov. 12. in the Solano County Department of Child Services, Fairfield.

To register for these free workshops, those interested may visit the Web page www.solanocounty.com/childsupport and click on “Outreach & Workshops” or call 707-784-3640.
