Mike Thompson: Event is ‘excellent networking opportunity’

U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-Napa, will participate Thursday in the Small Business Boost seminar, designed to help owners boost their companies through social media.

Thompson is Benicia’s congressman.

Co-hosts for the seminar are the Sonoma County Alliance and Facebook, the social media outlet. The program includes a presentation by a Facebook small business expert on best uses of Facebook and successful strategies.

A panel made up of representatives of local small businesses will answer questions and share suggestions.

More than 40 million small businesses worldwide use social media, and Thompson said the seminar is “an excellent opportunity” for business owners and employees not only to learn those networking techniques but also to meet each other and talk about ways to strengthen local economies.

The seminar will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Student Center Sonoma State University Ballroom, Sonoma State University, 1801 East Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park.

Registration can be done through the website fbsonoma.eventbrite.com.
